Around Town: Fort Street Bar & Grill
May 15th, 2008 by Kawehi HaugI wrote about Fort Street bar & Grill a couple of weeks ago, which prompted a Wednesday-night gathering of friends at the bar about which I had raved. Some were already devoted fans of the place and others were there for the first time but everyone agreed that, as far as bars go, this one is awesome. Cheap drinks, good food and great service — the trifecta of post-work happiness.
The sizzling charbroiled New York steak with mushrooms, onions and herb garlic butter is super ‘ono.
Side Street Inn’s famous pork chops are served here too. Both places are owned by Colin Nishida.
The grilled chili and garlic dry rub boneless short ribs. Perfect in every way.
And one for health-conscious (relatively speaking, of course): miso marinated chicken.

Holy smokes, that steak looks great! but I should be good and eat the miso marinated chicken. Nice camera work.

Ho sistah…..you get some mad camera skeelz. So clear and crisp…..I can taste um. What kine camera u get?
I have never been to Fort St. yet…..only Side Street. Comparable?

ft street is the best! wednesday night gatherings are the best! writing about places then showing pictures of the food all close up so my mouth actually waters is the best!

Opso: Thanks for the photo skills compliment, but I’m afraid I can’t take the credit, because the truth is: I’m a really bad photographer! Any good photos I might happen to take is actually just the work of my camera. And while this might sound like I’m getting paid to say it (I’m not!), I LOVE my new Canon PowerShot SX100 IS (read about it here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07082004canonsx100is.asp). It’s the only reason I even take pictures. I just bought it a couple of months ago and it’s the only camera I’ve used to take all of the pictures that I post here. It’s the perfect camera for non-pros who just want to point and shoot and get good shots.
Is Fort Street Bar & Grill comparable to Side Street Inn? The food is comparable (they share similar menus), but the atmosphere is less urban. It’s less crowded, which makes for a more laid back atmosphere. Fort Street B&G is a pretty well-kept secret, so it’s super mellow and more like a backyard pa‘ina than a city bar.
